We have investigated the pure nuclear Bragg reflection due to the combined magnetic and quadrupole interaction from 57Fe-enriched Fe3O4 specimen. The measurements were conducted by using a newly installed synchrotron Mossbauer four-circle diffractometer at SPring-8 BL11XU. This time, we have succeeded in observing the 200 reflection and obtaining its reflection spectrum consisting of the B-site spectrum only. However, the reflection intensity was unexpectedly weak and the reflection spectrum had anomalous shape. Then we have measured the 10 10 0 reflection spectrum. The obtained spectrum, however, had unexpected spectral shape, where the B-site spectrum was almost smeared out. This is very different from that obtained by the natural Fe specimen. We consider that these features are the results of the destructive interference effect between the nuclear energy levels of the B-sites. |
