It is also known that p-hydroquinones show an efficient radical-scavenging activity as in the case of vitamin E. We herein report the effect of a metal ion on the radical-scavenging rates of substituted p-hydroquinones.\nMethylated phytylhydroquinones and simple substituted p-hydroquinones showed an efficient scavenging activity of 2,2-diphyenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical in deaerated ethanol (EtOH) at 298 K. From the spectral change are determined the DPPH radical-scavenging rate constants of the hydroquinones in deaerated EtOH by using the stopped-flow technique. 内容記述 | p-Hydroquinone derivatives are known to be formed in the biosynthetic pathway of vitamin E (tocopherols). It is also known that p-hydroquinones show an efficient radical-scavenging activity as in the case of vitamin E. We herein report the effect of a metal ion on the radical-scavenging rates of substituted p-hydroquinones.
