However, the response to even higher doses is not clear. First, to investigate the effects of high-dose radiation on the locomotion of C. elegans, we investigated the dose range that reduces whole-body locomotion or leads to death. Irradiation was performed in the range of 0–6 kGy. In the crawling analysis, motility decreased after irradiation in a dose-dependent manner. Exposure to 6 kGy of radiation affected crawling on agar immediately and caused the complete loss of motility. Both γ-rays and carbon-ion beams significantly reduced crawling motility at 3 kGy. Next, swimming in buffer was measured as a motility index to assess the response over time after irradiation and motility similarly decreased. However, swimming partially recovered 6 h after irradiation with 3 kGy of γ-rays. To examine the possibility of a recovery mechanism, in situ GFP reporter assay of the autophagy-related gene lgg-1 was performed. The fluorescence intensity was stronger in the anterior half of the body 7 h after irradiation with 3 kGy of γ-rays. GFP::LGG-1 induction was observed in the pharynx, neurons along the body, and the intestine. Furthermore, worms were exposed to region-specific radiation with carbon-ion microbeams and the trajectory of crawling was measured by image processing. Motility was lower after anterior-half body irradiation than after posterior-half body irradiation. This further supported that the anterior half of the body is important in the locomotory response to radiation.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_8_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"MDPI"}]},"item_8_relation_14":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.3390/ijms22189810","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_8_relation_17":{"attribute_name":"関連サイト","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"https://doi.org/10.3390/ijms22189810","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_8_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"1422-0067","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Akira, Yamasaki (Kyoto Univ.)"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064465","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Suzuki, Michiyo"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064466","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Funayama, Tomoo"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064467","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Takahito, Moriwaki (Kyoto Univ.)"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064468","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Sakashita, Tetsuya"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064469","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kobayashi, Yasuhiko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064470","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Qiu-Mei, Zhang-Akiyama (Kyoto Univ.)"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064471","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Michiyo, Suzuki","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064472","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Tomo, Funayama","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064473","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Tetsuya, Sakashita","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064474","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Yasuhiko, Kobayashi","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1064475","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"High-Dose Irradiation Inhibits Motility and Induces Autophagy in Caenorhabditis elegans","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"High-Dose Irradiation Inhibits Motility and Induces Autophagy in Caenorhabditis elegans"}]},"item_type_id":"8","owner":"1","path":["1"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2021-09-13"},"publish_date":"2021-09-13","publish_status":"0","recid":"83414","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["High-Dose Irradiation Inhibits Motility and Induces Autophagy in Caenorhabditis elegans"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T16:48:35.653763+00:00"}
