Therefore, there will be an urgent need for rapid analysis of steel and concrete if a nuclear accident occurs. However, the reported methods for analysis Pu in steel and concrete samples need repeated acid digestion, fusion with NaOH, and the toxic HF was often used to digest silicate or hot particles in concrete, which is tedious, unsafe, and time-consuming. In this work, we present a simple digestion method using HCl-HNO3-NH4HF2 for analysis of Pu isotopes in steel and concrete samples by SF-ICP-MS.
