In general, one standalone medical imaging device can provide only one aspect of a patient’s information. For example, positron emission tomography (PET) provides molecular information whereas magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides morphological information. For an accurate diagnosis of diseases such as cancer and dementia, multiple aspects of the patient’s information are essential. Thus, multi imaging devices have evolved towards combining two different imaging modalities into a single imaging platform to provide both functional and anatomical images for better decision-making by physicians. In this chapter, one of the most modern multi imaging devices in the last two decades, PET/MRI for medical applications, is described.}, title = {Multi Imaging Devices: PET/MRI}, year = {2021} }
