Therefore, research on next generation PET technologies remains a hot topic worldwide. Appropriate choice of scintillators is a key to bring out potential of PET imaging. In this talk, PET innovation being made at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS-QST) is reviewed [1].\nOpenPET is our original idea to realize the world’s first open-type 3D PET scanner for PET-image guided particle therapy such as in situ dose verification. The principal of dose verification for particle therapy is based on the measurement of positron emitters which are produced through fragmentation reactions caused by proton or 12C ion irradiation. As the produced activity is very low, scintillators with low natural background activity, such as GSO, is preferred.\nLife extension enabled by progressed cancer therapy is causing another issue of dementia. To satisfy a potential demand for brain molecular imaging, brain dedicated PET scanners are required. MRI, which visualizes anatomical brain structures, is a good help for brain imaging. For simultaneous MRI and PET, we developed the “add-on PET”, a PET insert which can be operated in an existing commercial MRI. For this development, scintillators should not include magnetic material, and LYSO was selected.\nWhole gamma imaging (WGI), which is a novel combination of PET and Compton imaging, is also our concept to use all detected gamma rays for imaging. Not only improving the sensitivity in PET but also multi-tracer imaging including SPECT tracers are possible. For this purpose, scintillators with superior energy resolution such as GAGG are preferred.\n","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10005_description_6":{"attribute_name":"会議概要(会議名, 開催地, 会期, 主催者等)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"15th Int.
