However, existing gelatin scaffolds are chemically-crosslinked using cytotoxic reagents because the sol-gel transition of gelatin occurs at around the mammal’s body temperature. Our research group has found that gelatin is radiation-crosslinked without any crosslinkers when irradiated in water solution. The compressive modulus of the radiation-crosslinked gelatin hydrogel (RX-GG) can be controlled by the irradiation dose.
