Also, the 4th thoron intercomparison was provided at NIRS thoron chamber with a 150 dm3 inner volume. Twenty seven laboratories from 19 countries participated in the radon intercomparison, using three types of detectors (etched-track, electret plate, and silicon photodiode). Thirteen laboratories from eleven countries participated in the thoron intercomparisons, using two types of detectors (CR-39 and silicon photodiode). The tests were made under two different expositions of radon and two of thoron. Finally, 72% and 42% results do not differ more than 20% from the reference value of radon and thoron experiments, respectively. The presented data indicated that the performance quality of laboratories for radon measurement not changed from previous exercises. Results of thoron exercises showed that the quality for thoron measurements still needs further development and additional studies are needed to improve its measuring methods., 8th International Conference on High Levels of Natural Radiation and Radon Areas (ICHLNRRA 2014)}, title = {5th edition of the international intercomparison of integrating radon & thoron monitors with the NIRS radon and thoron chambers}, year = {2014} }
