In particular, the wide spectrum of FGF1 activity was expected to be advantageous to treat radiation injuries. However, FGF1 has poor thermal stability and a relatively short half-life in vivo; therefore, we created an FGF1:FGF2 chimera (FGFC) that showed greater structural stability than FGF1, resulting in more effective protection against radiation-induced intestinal injuries. Thus, this study evaluated the protective effects of FGFC against radiation-induced hair follicle damage in the absence of heparin. A portion of the dorsal skin from 7-week-old male BALB/c mice was depilated to induce the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle, and these mice received total body irradiation (TBI) with gamma-rays 6 days after depilation. Under these conditions, hair could grow after irradiation at 4Gy, but not at more than 6 Gy. Pre-treatment with FGFC enabled hair regeneration even after 6 Gy, although FGF1 did not regenerate it. The administration of FGFC without heparin reduced the induction of apoptosis in hair bulbs 24 h after irradiation and also decreased the appearance of activated-caspase-3 positive cells 8 h after irradiation, whereas FGF1 did not significantly decrease radiation-induced apoptosis. In contrast, K15 positive stem cells decreased in anagen hair follicles after irradiation. However, pre-treatment with FGFC maintained K15 positive stem cells in the bulge after irradiation.\n These findings suggest that FGFC exerts radioprotective activity on hair follicles and enhances hair regeneration through the protection of stem cells after radiation damage, and indicate that FGFC may be useful for the prevention and treatment of radiation-induced hair loss.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10005_description_6":{"attribute_name":"会議概要(会議名, 開催地, 会期, 主催者等)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"The 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nakayama, Fumiaki"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"697954","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Umeda, Sachiko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"697955","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Asada, Masahiro"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"697956","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Imamura, Toru"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"697957","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Imai, Takashi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"697958","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"中山 文明","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"697959","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"梅田 禎子","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"697960","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"今井 高志","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"697961","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"conference object","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_c94f"}]},"item_title":"FGF chimeric growth factor (FGFC) promoted hair regeneration after radiation damage","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"FGF chimeric growth factor (FGFC) promoted hair regeneration after radiation damage"}]},"item_type_id":"10005","owner":"1","path":["28"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2012-12-17"},"publish_date":"2012-12-17","publish_status":"0","recid":"71012","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["FGF chimeric growth factor (FGFC) promoted hair regeneration after radiation damage"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T19:56:13.194553+00:00"}
