Early diagnosis is important, but it is difficult because there is not an adequate diagnostic marker of sarcomatoid mesothelioma. Thus, development of a new diagnostic marker is urgently needed. We previously reported COPA was highly expressed in some mesothelioma cell lines including sarcomatoid subtype. In this study, to determine whether COPA is a useful marker, we assessed COPA expression in several cancer cell lines, xenografts and surgical specimens from patients with sarcomatoid and epithelioid mesothelioma. From western blotting and immunostaining in cell lines, COPA was highly expressed in sarcomatoid and epithelioid cell lines but not in cancer cell line of non-mesothelial origin (A549), and a normal mesothelial cell line. Immunohistochemical staining in xenografts showed COPA was highly expressed in sarcomatoid but not in epithelioid and A549 xenografts. Expression in specimens was consistent with that in xenografts. These results suggest COPA is a useful marker for pathological diagnosis of sarcomatoid mesothelioma., 第69回日本癌学会学術総会}, title = {COPA has the potential of diagnostic marker for sarcomatoid mesothelioma}, year = {2010} }
