During the particle therapy, a lot of secondly particles are generated through nuclear reactions in a patient’s body or irradiation devices. Because the neutron is distributed broadly and its RBE is high, an evaluation of second cancer risk should be associated with neutrons. Monte Carlo calculation is a useful technique for the estimation of neutrons in the patient’s body; however, the verification for the precision of the simulation is still poor. Therefore we studied the distribution of secondly neutrons in a water phantom by metal foil activation method and compared with the estimation of Monte Carlo code PHITS (Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System)., PTCOG49 (第49回 粒子線治療世界会議)}, title = {Experimental verification of the Monte Carlo code PHITS on secondary neutron distribution inside of a water phantom for carbon-ion radiotherapy}, year = {2010} }
