Methods and Materials: Two murine fibrosarcomas, #6107 (radiosensitive) and #9037 (radioresistant), were used. A total of 106 cells per 10 ml with various mixture ratios of the two fibrosarcomas were transplanted into hind legs of syngeneic C3H male mice. Growing to reach 7.5-8.0 mm in diameter, leg tumors were irradiated with single doses of 290 MeV/u carbon-ion beams (6-cm Spread-Out Bragg peak, LET=74 keV/microm) accelerated by HIMAC synchrotron. Five and 10 mice per dose were used for tumor growth delay and TCD50 assay, respectively. Isoeffect doses were graphically obtained on dose response curves. Results: Tumors grew after cell transplantation with various mixture ratios of #6107 and #9037. Growth of unirradiated tumors was similar to each other, irrespective of mixture ratios. For tumors grew after mixture ratios (#6107: #9037) of 10:0, 9:1, 5:5, 1:9 and 0:10, isoeffect doses to delay tumor growth by 20 days were 15,20,21,24 and 32 Gy, respectively, whereas isoeffect doses to control 50 % tumors (i.e., TCD50) were 30,38,42,42 and 42 Gy, respectively. It was noticed that the isoeffect doses for growth delay gradually increased with a decrease in fraction of radiosensitive cells. The isoeffect dose for tumor controls less depended on the change in mixture ratios, and did not decrease till fraction of radioresistant cells in mixture decreased to 10 %. Conclusion: We conclude that radioresistant cells within a tumor affected tumor growth delay and tumor control probabilities as well after carbon-ion irradiation. However, growth delay was more sensitive to tumor heterogeneity than tumor controls.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10005_description_6":{"attribute_name":"会議概要(会議名, 開催地, 会期, 主催者等)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"54th annual meeting of the radiation research society","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Ando, Koichi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"681989","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"et.al"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"681990","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"安藤 興一","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"681991","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"conference object","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_c94f"}]},"item_title":"Dependence of carbon-ion isoeffect doses on the heterogeneity within a tumor","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Dependence of carbon-ion isoeffect doses on the heterogeneity within a tumor"}]},"item_type_id":"10005","owner":"1","path":["28"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2008-09-30"},"publish_date":"2008-09-30","publish_status":"0","recid":"69495","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Dependence of carbon-ion isoeffect doses on the heterogeneity within a tumor"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T20:13:49.664920+00:00"}
