However, it remains unclear how the transition from the neuronal activity to the neural network may be executed. The measurement of the change in rCBF using neuroimaging techniques such as positron emission tomography (PET) can allow us to give insight into the function of a large neuronal population on a global scale. So we can expect that the investigation of the correlation among the activated areas during task may give a hint to understand how the regions interact each other in functional terms. \nNow, we developed a method in which a map (correlation map) of areas showing the correlation with the reference areas can be generated automatically from PET images with H215O and then tested whether the results from our correlation map was consistent with the anatomical connectivity.\nWe have developed the method of generating the correlation map showing the functional connection. We have applied this method for a visuo-motor-task study for two monkeys with 15O labeled water and PET. Preliminarily, the positive correlation between M1 and the higher order motor cortices and between VA/VL and higher order motor cortices were obtained consistently with the anatomical evidence.
