As the wide mutation spectrums of Ion Beam Breeding were demonstrated in chrysanthemum and carnation, ion beams was rapidly spread as a useful mutagen all over Japan in 2000s. In our irradiation facility, almost 40 plant varieties have been developed so far, and the usefulness of ion beam has been also recognized in the breeding of industrial bacteria. In this seminar, I talk about our recent studies that is aimed to develop efficient mutagenesis techniques to shorten the time required for breeding new varieties., FNCA-KSRI-KAERI Joint International Symposium on "Application of Radiation Technology and Mutation Breeding for Sustainable Agriculture"}, title = {Frontiers of Ion Beam Breeding}, year = {2017} }
