The EVEDA Li Test Loop (ELTL), which simulates hydraulic conditions of the Li target and a purification system envisaged in the IFMIF, is a main activity of the Li target facility in the IFMIF/EVEDA project (EVEDA is an abbreviation for Engineering Validation and Engineering Design Activities). Construction and commissioning of the ELTL were completed on March 2011 in the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). The validation phase started on September 2012 after a 16-month suspension due to the Great East Japan Earthquake (11 March 2011), and completed on October 2014. The key issues to be validated in the ELTL are: (1) validation of the Li target, Li target diagnostics, a cold trap and impurity analysis and (2) validation of long-time operation. The stable Li target under the IFMIF conditions whose Li temperature and velocity are 250 °C and 15 m/s respectively under high vacuum of 10-3 Pa has been achieved and reported. The Li target was continuously operated with the cold trap for approximately 1 month, and its stability was periodically evaluated by a high-precision Li target diagnostic (laser-probe method). Finally, the whole system functioned well throughout the operation period of 1500 h; therefore, we are successful in the demonstration of the IFMIF Li target facility.
