Previously, a greenhouse experiment showed that 137Cs concentrations in soybean beans were higher than that in wheat grain (Adriano et al., J. Plant Nutr. 7, 1415-1432, 1984); however, in IAEA TRS 472 (2010), similar soil-to-crop transfer factors (TFs) were listed for leguminous fodder and grass (stems and shoots of cereals). After the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP) accident, food monitoring results showed slightly high radiocesium concentrations in soybean than other crops, however, details has not been reported yet. In this study, therefore, we compared the concentrations of 137Cs in several types of herbaceous plants, such as red clover, mugwort, field horsetail, and several grass species obtained in the same sampling field to check their 137Cs concentration differences.
