We evaluated\nthe changes of interstitial pneumonia in serologic\ntests, pulmonary function tests and CT scans before\nand after CIRT.\nMethods: We analyzed 131 cases that performed\nCIRT as the phase I/II dose escalation clinical study\n(protocol: #0201) by single fractionation for stage I\nnon small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), between April\n2003 and December 2006. We evaluated pulmonary\nfunction tests (vital capacity (VC), forced\nexpiratory volume in one second (FEV), carbon\nmonoxide diffusing capacity (DLCO)), serologic\ntests (KL-6, SP-D, LDH) and CT scans before and\nafter CIRT until two years every six months.\nResults and Conclusions: We revealed that DLCO\nand %DLCO decreased for the patients with\ninterstitial changes on CT scans before CIRT. The\nlevels of KL-6, SP-D were increased in the cases\nwith interstitial changes on CT scans On CT scan,\nthere was the change increasing slightly\nground-glass opacities in limited local area of the\nlung after CIRT. In this study, we could analyze\nonly 7 cases with the interstitial changes. We could\nnot necessarily estimate that the patients with the\ninterstitial pneumonia decrease pulmonary\nfunctions significantly.
