Method:Twelve patients underwent positron emission tomography studies with [11C]DOPA before (baseline) and 1 day after treatment with antipsychotic drug, risperidone. DA synthesis capacity, ki, was determined for the striatum using a graphical plot analysis method and with the occipital cortex as a reference region. Result:Patients showed no significant unidirectional change in DA synthesis capacity before and after risperidone administration; However, a significant negative correlation was observed between the baseline ki value and the change rate of ki before and after risperidone administration (r = -0.63, p = 0.029).
