GBM is notorious for highly growth and invasive behavior and makes the surgical intervention ineffective. Recently, though there are many reports about the effectiveness of carbon ion therapy, little is known about effects of carbon ion therapy for GBM. In addition, the almost of GBM patients has not satisfied with treatment of the carbon ion alone for GBM. Temozolomide (TMZ) is a cytotoxic alkylating agent which has shown an activity in the recurrent anaplastic glioma and GBM. Combining TMZ with radiotherapy followed by maintenance TMZ has been reported to improve outcome compared with radiation alone, and this treatment is currently considered as the standard treatment for GBM. Hence, in this study, we investigated the effectiveness of combining TMZ with carbon ion therapy for GBM., H21年度HIMAC共同利用研究成果発表会}, title = {重粒子線と化学療法の併用療法における脳正常組織および神経膠芽腫の放射線感受性の検討}, year = {2010} }
