After clinical trials aiming at verification of efficacy and safety of this therapy, the radiotherapy was approved as \"highly advanced medical technology (HAMT)\" by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in 2003. In 2009 the total number of patients treated with carbon ion radiotherapy reached about 5,000 and the efficacy and safety are being proven in various types of cancer. HIMAC is the world's first heavy ion accelerator complex dedicated to medical use in a hospital environment and one of the most active and leading facilities for charged particle therapy.\nMain areas of activity\nResearch Center for Charged Particle Therapy has been conducting studies of radiation-related life science research focusing on heavy ion radiotherapy including medical imaging, medical and accelerator physics, and engineering using HIMAC.\nWork plan\nSpecific objectives are as follows;\n1. To provide information on clinical cancer control by means of charged particle therapy.\n2. To share the knowledge and skills comprehensively to fulfill charged particle therapy and related techniques.\n3. To providing trainings to develop human resources on charged particle therapy including clinical practices, medical imaging, medical physics, radiobiological aspects, accelerator physics and engineering.\n\\nHeavy charged particles deliver a highly localized dose distribution to deeply seated tumour. In particular, treatment with heavier charged particles than proton or helium ion has been proved to be effective for radio-resistant tumour as well as radio-sensitive tumour because of the higher RBE. Human resources expert on charged particle therapy and its related fields are required to be more as the requirement of implementation of the therapy increases. It is will be expected to educate oncologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, medical physicists, engineers and to transform technical skills of treatment, diagnosis, treatment planning, dosimetry and management of a facility. Technical support for planning and construction of accelerator and treatment rooms for charged particle therapy. Using our accumulation of experience on charged particle therapy and considering safety and effectiveness of charged particle therapy the world standard model of the machine which means also IAEA standard model will be established.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10005_description_6":{"attribute_name":"会議概要(会議名, 開催地, 会期, 主催者等)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"KIDS workshop 2009 in NIRS IAEA NIRS Joint Workshop & NIRS Symposium on Radiation Protection for Children","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kamada, Tadashi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"629849","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Imai, Reiko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"629850","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"鎌田 正","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"629851","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"今井 礼子","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"629852","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"conference object","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_c94f"}]},"item_title":"Plans for Radiotherapy","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Plans for Radiotherapy"}]},"item_type_id":"10005","owner":"1","path":["29"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-03-17"},"publish_date":"2010-03-17","publish_status":"0","recid":"63847","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Plans for Radiotherapy"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T21:18:19.882629+00:00"}
