To clarify the anti-metastatic effect of combined therapy of carbon-ion irradiation and immunotherapy for local tumors using an in vivo murine model. \nMethods and Materials: Local tumors inoculated with mouse squamous cell carcinoma (NR-S1) cells in synergic C3H/HeMsNrs mice were irradiated with a single dose of 6 Gy of carbon-ions (290 MeV/nucleon, 6cm spread-out Bragg peak). After one-and-a-half day from the irradiation, a-GalCer pulsed DCs were locally injected into the primary tumor. The anti-tumor effects and the anti-metastatic effects of these combined modalities were investigated. \nResults: Measured by tumor-growth delay assay, DCs injection did not indicate any enhanced effects of combination therapy. Instead, the combination of carbon-ion irradiation and DCs injection decreased the numbers and each size of lung metastases significantly. \nConclusion: Combined approach with immunotherapy significantly decreased pulmonary metastases in comparison to carbon-ion therapy alone., 第68回日本癌学会学術総会}, title = {マウス腫瘍モデルにおける炭素イオン線と免疫療法併用による肺転移抑制効果}, year = {2009} }
