In both kinds of cells, irreversible reduction of transmembrane potential occurred earlier than chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation, and cell shrinkage and death were observed in the later phase. Compared with X-rays, Carbon ion beams induced earlier and more effective depletion of transmembrane potential and other opoptotic changes in these cells. In the present study, examinations of caspase cascades in these apoptotic processes were performed using 7 kinds of cell permeable caspase inhibitors. Results revealed that the involvement of caspases in the induction of apoptosis by Carbon beams and X-rays was different. Further, the involvement of caspases was also related to the cell type and the dosage of irradiation as well. These findings suggest that the order of downstream caspase actvation is dependent on both the apoptotic stimulus (irradiation source and dosage) and cell type., 平成15年度放射線医学総合研究所重粒子線がん治療装置等共同利用研究発表会}, title = {リンパ腫細胞の重粒子線誘発アポトーシスの機構に関する研究}, year = {2003} }
