Our clinical trials led us to conclude that irradiation with heavy particle beams, notably carbon ion beams, offers a significant potential for improving tumor control without increasing toxicity risks.\nBetween 1994 and 1999, a phase I/II study of the treatment of stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) by CIRT was first conducted using a dose escalation method to determine the optimal dose. Furthermore, definite tumor control was also confirmed by the autopsies of CIRT-treated patients and in cases treated by surgery.\nIn the present study, a phase II clinical trial and a phase I/II dose escalation clinical trial are reported. In the phase II clinical trial, the total dose was fixed at 72.0GyE in 9 fractions over 3 weeks , and at 52.8GyE for stage IA NSCLC and 60.0GyE for stage IB NSCLC in 4 fractions in one week . And we have reported, elderly patients 80 years and older can be treated safely by CIRT. \nThe phase I/II dose escalation clinical trial in one day CIRT was initiated in April 2003. This clinical trial is still in progress .","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Baba, Masayuki"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"582271","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Tsujii, Hirohiko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"582272","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"馬場 雅行","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"582273","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"辻井 博彦","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"582274","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Carbon ion radiotherapy for clinical stage I non-small cell lung cancer","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Carbon ion radiotherapy for clinical stage I non-small cell lung cancer"}]},"item_type_id":"10004","owner":"1","path":["11"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2011-03-23"},"publish_date":"2011-03-23","publish_status":"0","recid":"57875","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Carbon ion radiotherapy for clinical stage I non-small cell lung cancer"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T22:22:16.247841+00:00"}
