Some Japanese articles on\n\"regulatory science\" which include an article written by a leading scholar on science studies explained\nerroneously the origin of the term \"regulatory science\" in the Western context as an article written in 1972\nwhich did not have any description of the term \"regulatory science\". The North American usage of the\nterm \"regulatory science\" varies widely with both persons and times. Though there are several terms and\nconcepts resembling \"regulatory science\" in North America, scant discussion has risen on their\ndissimilarities. One Japanese scholar on science studies wrote a detailed and frequently referred review\narticle, but surprisingly, two of its key references did not mention the term \"regulatory science\" at all.\nConclusions:Though much has been written about \"regulatory science\" in Japan, these descriptions on\nthe origin of the term in the Western context are not accurate.
