On the other hand, radiation to\nabdominal cancer, for example the uterus and the\nbladder, would cause damages not only to the tumor\nbut also to the gut nearby target still.\nNuclear medicine imaging for diagnosis, such as\nsingle photon emission computed tomography\n(SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET), has\nbeen applied clinically for the diagnosis of cancer.\nRadiotracer is distributed in each organ by the blood\nflow. Nevertheless, it has not been established to\nevaluate tissue functions in consideration of the\nregional blood flow. Especially in irradiated tumors or\nnormal tissues close to the tumor, the change of blood\nflow would be resulted from vascular necrosis by\nirradiation. Therefore, these changes should be taken\naccount for an investigation of tracer accumulation.\nTumor repopulation after carbon-ion irradiation was\nestimated using 14C-labeled thymidine as a tracer for\nthe early response.
