Neon ions were transported to MEXP course at 6 MeV/n and led into air, and then irradiated to the cells. Ion energy (or the LETs) was selected by changing the distance between the beam exit and the sample position. For protons, we decreased the ion energy to 4.3 MeV from 6MeV by controlling linac accelerators. For measurement of cell inactivation, 4.3 MeV protons were decreased its energy by air as an absorber to 3.4, 2.6, and 2.0. The effect for cell inactivation higher with low energy protons. For Ne ion, we measured the cell inactivation cross-section by obtaining the survival curves at two different positions of Bragg curves, which showed lower inactivation cross section at higher LET.
