The ratio of dsb to single-strand breaks (ssb) is higher for densely ionizing radiation than for sparsely ionizing radiation. However, even for Fe ions with LET of several thousands keV/um, dsb/ssb ratios not exceeding a few tenths have been reported. We have measured this ratio in solution DNA exposed to carbon ions at positions near the Bragg peak. Carbon Ions with 6 MeV/n from the Medium-Energy Beam Course at the NIRS were extracted into air through a thin metal foil. The particle fluence was directly measured by CR39 track detector. Closed circular pBR322 plasmid DNA was used, and dsb and ssb were quantitated by electrophoretic separation and ethidium bromide staining of the DNA. Our results indicate the dsb/ssb ratio is about 2 for carbon Ions close to the Bragg peak.}, pages = {108--109}, title = {重粒子線によるDNA 主鎖切断誘発機構の研究}, volume = {2000}, year = {2001} }
