Conditioning irradiation with 290 MeV/u carbon ions delivered to the tissues at 10 cm diameter. To measured 14C-Thymidine uptake, mice were intravenously injected with tracers. The significantly decrease in 14C-Thymidine uptake in gut and skin were observed 4 hours after carbon-beam irradiation. The 14C-Thymidine uptake in the skin was restarted at 4hr after irradiation. In contrast, 14C-Thymidine uptake in the gut was restarted 12hr after irradiation. These findings demonstrated that the thymidine uptake in vivo could be an appropriate marker for investigating tissues proliferation-activity after radiotherapy.
