The mice(ddY-SLC, male) were exposed to the 400 MeV/u neon beam in 6cm SOBP at the dose rate of about 1.3Gy/min or 200kVp X-rays at 0.7Gy/min with graded doses. Selected LET of the beam at the sample was 100keV/mum. The lethality of mice, the kinetics of blood cells and body weights were checked for 30 days after irradiation. The doses corresponding to LD50/30 of mice for the group irradiated with neon beam or the group with X-rays were estimated as 5.1Gy and 5.9Gy, respectively. The RBE was 1.15. But the results of neon beam showed wide variations.
