Firs of all this project was designed to obtain RBE of 290MeV carbon and 400 MeV neon beams for acute cell death of pancreatic islets of golden hamster (Mesocricetus auratus) in the condition of in both in vivo and in vitro systems. As mentioned in previous report vitro system, however, resulted in ill success possibly in terms of physiological conditions. As the limited chance of experiments, this in vitro experiment was tentatively shelved for the time being. In return in vivo experiments for low LET region of neon beams (32.5keV/u) and carbon beams (15.0keV/u) were performed. These results together with those previously obtained for 200keV/ X-ray, 70MeV proton, 290MeV carbon (60keV/u), and neon (100keV/u) beams were reconsidered Dose response relations (25,50,100,150,and 200Gy respectively) in acute cell death of pancreatic islets studied histologically after whole body irradiation of 3 weeks young male golden hamster with lower LET carbon beams (15.0keV/u) and neon beams (32.5keV/u). Results indicated that Do of carbon beams (15.0keV/u) and neon beams (32.5keV/u) was 38Gy and 49Gy respectively. Previously obtained D0 data for 200keV/ X-ray, 70MeV proton, 290MeV carbon (60keV/u) and neon (100keV/u) beams were 38Gy, 35-40Gy, 75Gy and 150-250Gy, respectively. From these data estimated RBE of neon (100keV/u and 32.5keV/u), carbon (60keV/u and 15.0keV/u) and proton beams were 0.19-0.25, 0.76, 0.49, 0.97, respectively. Therefore the order of RBE (or radiosensitivities) of islets cells with these various heavy ion beams was dependent on the order of each LET value irrespective of beam species.}, pages = {63--64}, title = {急性膵島細胞死で見た重粒子線のRBE}, volume = {2001}, year = {2002} }
