The RBE for the proton beams at different depth varied from 1.01 to 1.07 for all depth measured at 10% and 50% survival level, and the biological doses of the beam measured by the Cell-Stack chamber to an exposure of 3.3Gy showed approximately 30% of survival, and was also very uniform. 2) Evaluation of RBE at high dose region for the carbon 140 MeV/u 25 mm SOBP beam for eye-melanoma treatment at HIMAC has also performed. The RBE value measured by the HSG cells at 0.01% survival level varies ranging 1.66-1.87 at the proximal, middle, and distal positions of the SOBP. The value was very similar to that reported previously bu using HMV-I melanoma cells, also similar to an estimated value when the ridge filter was designed.
