To mimic the different radiation qualities of the direct action (D) / indirect action (ID) ratio, A549 cells were exposed to X-rays, with either 100 mM of the radical scavenger, thio-urea (TU+), or null (TU-). Biological responses in irradiated and bystander cells were compared at equal lethal effects of a 6% survival dose, which was estimated from the survival curves to be 8 Gy and 5 Gy for TU+ and TU-, respectively. The cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression in TU- irradiated cells increased up to 8 hrs post-irradiation, before decreasing toward 24 hrs. The concentration of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), a primary product of COX-2, and known as a secreted inducible factor of RIBE have increased over 3-fold compared with that in the control at 8 hrs post irradiation. Conversely, COX-2 expression and PGE2 production of TU+ irradiated cells were drastically suppressed. These results show that the larger D/ID suppressed COX-2 expression and PGE2 production in irradiated cells. However, in contrast to the irradiated cells, the COX-2 expression was equally observed in the TU- and TU+ co-cultured bystander cells, which shows the highest expression levels at 24hrs post-irradiation. Taken together, these findings demonstrate that radiation quality, such as the D/ID ratio may become an important factor in the alteration of signalling pathways involved in RIBE.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_8_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS"}]},"item_8_relation_13":{"attribute_name":"PubMed番号","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"30124879","subitem_relation_type_select":"PMID"}}]},"item_8_relation_14":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.1093/jrr/rry065","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_8_relation_17":{"attribute_name":"関連サイト","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"https://academic.oup.com/jrr/advance-article/doi/10.1093/jrr/rry065/5073310","subitem_relation_type_select":"URI"}}]},"item_8_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0449-3060","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kobayashi, Alisa"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"798004","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Konishi, Teruaki"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"798005","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kobayashi, Alisa","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"798006","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Konishi, Teruaki","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"798007","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Radiation quality effects alteration in COX-2 pathway to trigger radiation-induced bystander response in A549 lung carcinoma cells","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Radiation quality effects alteration in COX-2 pathway to trigger radiation-induced bystander response in A549 lung carcinoma cells"}]},"item_type_id":"8","owner":"1","path":["1"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2018-07-18"},"publish_date":"2018-07-18","publish_status":"0","recid":"49343","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Radiation quality effects alteration in COX-2 pathway to trigger radiation-induced bystander response in A549 lung carcinoma cells"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T23:52:03.824613+00:00"}
