The astrophysical origin of this isotope has remained unknown. In this Letter, we report on the production of 98Tc by neutrino induced reactions in core-collapse supernovae based upon a supernova model in which neutrino-nucleus interactions are included. Our predicted 98Tc abundance at the time of solar\nsystem formation is lower than the current measured upper limit of 98Tc. If the initial abundance were to be precisely measured, the 98Tc nuclear cosmochronometer could be used to evaluate the duration time from the last core-collapse supernova to the formation of the solar system. A unique\nfeature of 98Tc neutrino-process nucleosynthesis is the contribution from the charged current reaction with electron anti-neutrinos to the total production. This contribution can be as much as 20%.
