Mn2+ is used as a positive contrast agent in manganese-enhanced MRI (MEMRI) and is expected to behave as a mimic of Ca2+ in many biologic systems. We conducted in vitro and in vivo MRI experiments with Mn2+ to investigate whether MEMRI can be used to detect cell alterations as an early-phase tumor response after radiotherapy. Colon-26 cells or a subcutaneously grafted colon-26 tumor model were irradiated with 20 Gy of X-rays. One day after irradiation, a significant augmentation of G2–M-phase cells, indicating a cell-cycle arrest, was observed in the irradiated cells in comparison with the control cells, although both early and late apoptotic alterations were rarely observed. The MEMRI signal in radiation-exposed tumor cells (R1: 0.77 +- 0.01 s−1) was significantly lower than that in control cells (R1: 0.82 +- 0.01 s−1) in vitro. MEMRI signal reduction was also observed in the in vivo tumor model 24 hours after irradiation (R1 of radiation: 0.97 +- 0.02 s−1, control: 1.10 +- 0.02 s−1), along with cell-cycle and proliferation alterations identified with immunostaining (cyclin D1 and Ki-67). Therefore, MEMRI after tumor radiotherapy was successfully used to detect cell alterations as an early-phase cellular response in vitro and in vivo.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_8_relation_14":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.1158/0008-5472.can-12-3837","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_8_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0008-5472","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Saito, Shigeyoshi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465994","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hasegawa, Sumitaka"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465995","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Sekita, Aiko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465996","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Bakalova-Zheleva, Rumiana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465997","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Furukawa, Takako"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465998","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Murase, Kenya"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465999","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Saga, Tsuneo"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"466000","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Aoki, Ichio"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"466001","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"齋藤 茂芳","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"466002","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"長谷川 純崇","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"466003","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"バカロバ ルミアナ","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"466004","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"古川 高子","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"466005","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"村瀬 研也","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"466006","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"佐賀 恒夫","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"466007","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"青木 伊知男","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"466008","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Manganese-Enhanced MRI Reveals Early-Phase Radiation-Induced Cell Alterations In Vivo.","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Manganese-Enhanced MRI Reveals Early-Phase Radiation-Induced Cell Alterations In Vivo."}]},"item_type_id":"8","owner":"1","path":["1"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2014-03-05"},"publish_date":"2014-03-05","publish_status":"0","recid":"46732","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Manganese-Enhanced MRI Reveals Early-Phase Radiation-Induced Cell Alterations In Vivo."],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T23:48:17.159767+00:00"}
