TRA was visualized in vivo by\nnitroxide-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on anesthetized animals or in vitro by\nelectron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy on isolated tissue specimens. Two\nbiochemical parameters were analyzed in parallel: tissue total antioxidant capacity (TTAC)\nand plasma levels of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs).\nResults: In the early stage of cancer, the brain tissues were characterized by a shorter-lived\nMRI signal than that from healthy brains (indicating a higher reducing activity for the\nnitroxide radical), which was accompanied by an enhancement of TTAC and MMP9 plasma\nlevels. In the terminal stage of cancer, tissues in both hemispheres were characterized by a\nlonger-lived MRI signal than in healthy brains (indicating a high oxidative activity) that was\naccompanied by a decrease in TTAC and an increase in the MMP2/MMP9 plasma levels.\nCancer progression also affected the redox potential of tissues distant from the primary tumor\nlocus (liver and lung). Their oxidative status increased in both stages of cancer.\nConclusions: The study demonstrates that tissue redox balance is very sensitive to the\nprogression of cancer and can be used as a diagnostic marker of carcinogenesis. The study\nalso suggests that the noncancerous tissues of a cancer-bearing organism are susceptible to oxidative damage and should be considered a therapeutic target.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_8_relation_14":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.1158/1078-0432.ccr-12-3726","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_8_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"1078-0432","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Bakalova-Zheleva, Rumiana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465804","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Zhelev, Zhivko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465805","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Aoki, Ichio"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465806","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Saga, Tsuneo"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465807","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"バカロバ ルミアナ","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465808","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Zhelev Zhivko","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465809","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"青木 伊知男","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465810","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"佐賀 恒夫","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"465811","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Tissue redox activity as a hallmark of carcinogenesis:from early to terminal stages of cancer","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Tissue redox activity as a hallmark of carcinogenesis:from early to terminal stages of cancer"}]},"item_type_id":"8","owner":"1","path":["1"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2014-02-13"},"publish_date":"2014-02-13","publish_status":"0","recid":"46716","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Tissue redox activity as a hallmark of carcinogenesis:from early to terminal stages of cancer"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T23:48:28.804748+00:00"}
