METHODS: A total of 303 patients who had undergone an FDG-PET scan in our institution with high serum CEA levels were analyzed. The prevalence of positive PET findings was evaluated with regard to a previous history of malignancy, absolute value of CEA levels, and the time course of CEA levels (an increasing or decreasing pattern, a change divided by time (DeltaCEA) and doubling time of CEA). RESULTS: Of 303 patients, 232 were confirmed to have malignancy, and the patient-based sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and diagnostic accuracy of PET were 87, 86, 95, 66, and 86%, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in positive rates according to the history of previous malignancy. The prevalence of PET-positive cases was higher with an increase in absolute CEA levels, and more than 90% of the patients were positive when CEA levels were more than 20 ng/ml. The DeltaCEA was significantly higher and the doubling time was significantly shorter in patients with positive results than those with negative results. CONCLUSIONS: A high value of serum CEA levels was correlated with a higher prevalence of positive PET findings. FDG-PET scans would be justified in patients with high serum CEA levels, regardless of whether there was or was not a previous history of malignancy.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_8_relation_14":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.1007/s12149-010-0387-5","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_8_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0914-7187","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Suga, Tsuyoshi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"457870","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nakamoto, Yuji"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"457871","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Saga, Tsuneo"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"457872","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Higashi, Tatsuya"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"457873","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hara, Tadashi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"457874","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Ishizu, Koichi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"457875","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Togashi, Kaori"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"457876","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"et.al"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"457877","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"佐賀 恒夫","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"457878","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Prevalence of positive FDG-PET findings in patients with high CEA levels","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Prevalence of positive FDG-PET findings in patients with high CEA levels"}]},"item_type_id":"8","owner":"1","path":["1"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2011-03-01"},"publish_date":"2011-03-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"46008","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Prevalence of positive FDG-PET findings in patients with high CEA levels"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T23:56:58.826562+00:00"}
