 note = {The biodiversity of agro-ecosystems has received increasing attention for sustainable agriculture. In Japan, data on the faunal diversity of Collembola in agro-ecosystems are limited. Here we report a species list of Collembola from conventionally farmed (with tillage, agricultural chemicals, and compound fertilizer) and ecofarmed (without tillage and agricultural chemicals, but with organic fertilizer) arable fields, a forest, and a compost pile in Japan. The total numbers of individuals and species were higher in the ecofarmed field than in the conventionally farmed field. One species, Mesaphorura silvicola (Folsom), from arable fields was a new record from Japan.},
