A visual analogue scale (VAS) for intensity of pain, knee joint range of motion (ROM), face scale for patient mood, and modified health assessment questionnaire (MHAQ) for disability of daily activities were assessed just before and after acupuncture. Maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and the volume with SUV more than 1.0 [Volume(SUV > 1)] on FDG–PET images as well as erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were also measured before and after the treatments. \nResults VAS, ROM, face scale and MHAQ improved in all patients and significantly after acupuncture, but no significant change was detected in ESR, CRP, SUVmax, or Volume(SUV > 1). \nConclusions Acupuncture relieves symptom, remedies physical function, and improves quality of life in RA patients, but may have no or very limited anti-inflammatory effect systemically. The regional effects of acupuncture are unlikely to be induced through reduction of regional inflammation. We believe this clinical study is the first step for elucidating therapeutic mechanisms of acupuncture, which must be important for the rational use and further development of acupuncture.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_8_relation_14":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.1007/s12149-009-0238-4","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_8_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0914-7187","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Sato, Masami"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"453724","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Inubushi, Masayuki"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"453725","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Shiga, Tohru"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"453726","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Tanimura, Kazuhide"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"453727","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Tamaki, Nagara"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"453728","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"et.al"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"453729","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"犬伏 正幸","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"453730","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Therapeutic effects of acupuncture in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a prospective study using 18F-FDG-PET.","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Therapeutic effects of acupuncture in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a prospective study using 18F-FDG-PET."}]},"item_type_id":"8","owner":"1","path":["1"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2009-10-16"},"publish_date":"2009-10-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"45661","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Therapeutic effects of acupuncture in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a prospective study using 18F-FDG-PET."],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-16T00:01:08.028419+00:00"}
