The cancer stem cell hypothesis suggests that a tumor can be viewed as an aberrant organ that is sustained, in a way similar to normal tissues, by a stem cell that drives tumorigenesis, as well as giving rise to a large population of differentiated progeny. The cancer stem cells, controlled by the micro-environmental conditions in the cancer tissue structures, may be involved in the process of relapse, metastasis and resistance to therapy. The strategy of targeting a small fraction of cancer stem cells would be efficient and would minimize the side-effects of the total kill strategy. The aim of this mini-review is to focus on recent developments in radiation research on cancer stem cells and transcriptome of noncoding (nu) RNA molecules, as well as their role in carcinogenesis and their implications in the development of new cancer treatments in the future.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_8_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"Nova Science Publishers"}]},"item_8_relation_10":{"attribute_name":"ISBN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"978-1-6045-6241","subitem_relation_type_select":"ISBN"}}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Ishii, Hideshi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"452255","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Saito, Toshiyuki"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"452256","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"石井 秀始","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"452257","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"齋藤 俊行","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"452258","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Recent progress of radiation research: cancer stem cells and ncRNAs.","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Recent progress of radiation research: cancer stem cells and ncRNAs."}]},"item_type_id":"8","owner":"1","path":["1"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2009-05-28"},"publish_date":"2009-05-28","publish_status":"0","recid":"45516","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Recent progress of radiation research: cancer stem cells and ncRNAs."],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-16T00:02:48.800304+00:00"}
