This is to determine whether cell\ncycle related changes in chromatin structure might influence the gamma-H2AX\nassay which depends on extensive phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of\nthe H2AX histone variant surrounding DSBs. The disappearance of gamma-H2AX foci\nafter irradiation was much slower for mitotic than for G1 cells. On the\nother hand, no difference was seen for the gel electrophoresis assay.
