The first integrated commissioning of JT-60SA was restarted at the end of May 2023 and completed at the end of December 2023. Effective wall cleaning was aimed at by combining 200 ◦C baking to remove H2O and hydrogen glow discharge cleaning to remove O2. This wall cleaning and continuous vacuum pumping decreased the total pressure to about 10 5 Pa. The residual gas analysis results showed a decrease in water vapour, oxygen and other impurities. The effect of 200 ◦C baking was measured by active temperature control, with a changing rate of >3 ◦C / h. The start of the plasma experiments during the integrated commissioning of JT-60SA was considered by the vacuum conditions of the JT-60 U plasma campaign in 2007 and the first tokamak plasma was generated on 23rd October 2023. |
