| 内容記述 | Walking is known to benefit mental and physical health, but its neural effects are not well understood. To examine these effects, we developed whole-brain fMRI-based predictive models for valence and arousal. Decoder development included a discovery phase for model training and internal validation, followed by a validation phase for external testing. The preregistration focuses on the validation-phase protocols. In 2024, fMRI data were collected from 32 healthy participants for the discovery cohort. Participants completed an emotional rating task and a one-back task. In the rating task, they viewed emotional pictures (pleasant–high arousal, pleasant–calm, unpleasant–high arousal, unpleasant–calm) and rated valence and arousal on a continuous scale. fMRI data were preprocessed using SPM pipelines, and single-trial beta maps were estimated with GLMsingle. Whole-brain MVPA with LASSO-PCR was used to predict participants’ ratings from beta maps, achieving mean within-subject correlations of >0.45 for valence and >0.35 for arousal. The upcoming validation phase (planned N=30) will test whether the discovery-phase decoders generalize to independent participants and whether walking’s neural effects replicate. Participants will complete a picture-rating task after both walking and reading conditions. Subjective ratings will also be compared across conditions, which was not examined in the discovery cohort. The same preprocessing and modeling pipeline will be used, and the discovery-trained decoders will be applied to validation data. | |||||||||
