Recently, various studies have been conducted using the synchrotron Mossbauer source. At SPring-8, a synchrotron Mossbauer micro-γ-ray diffractometer has been installed on a BL11XU to perform advanced studies using micro Mossbauer γ-rays and the Mossbauer diffraction method. The device comprises a Kirkpatrick?Baez focusing mirror, precise 4-axis diffractometer, and x?y?z sample scanning stage. This study introduces the device components, performance studies, and demonstrative experiments, including scanning Mossbauer microscopy of atmospherically corroded steel and γ-ray diffraction studies of iron oxide crystals. |
