内容記述 | We present preliminary results on the spectrum of high energy cosmic-ray electrons as the measured in the flight of the Polar Patrol Balloon (PPB) which lasted for 13 days, in January,2004 with a launch from Syowa Station, Antarctica. The PPB-BETS (Balloon-borne Electron Telescope with Scintillating Fiber) detector is designed to measure the cosmic-ray electron spectrum from 10 GeV to 1 TeV during a long balloon flight. It consists of 9 plates of plastic scinlater as a calorimeter and a scintillating fiber trackers for cascade showers induced from high energy electrons and protons between plates of lead with total 9 radiation length thickness. In this paper, we discuss the perfomance of the detector and the preliminary results on the spectrum of cosmic-ray electrons. |
