To analyze the molecular mechanisms underlying a phenomenon resemble to checkpoint adaptation in heavy-ion irradiated silkworm egg, we investigate the amount of transcripts of the genes concerned with checkpoint and apoptosis induction of silkworm, B. mori, using quantitative PCR. The transcripts of all 4 apoptosis related genes, Bm Histone H2AX, Bm p53, Bm Dronc (initiator caspase), and Bm Caspase1 (effector caspase), were detected in the silkworm eggs by RT-PCR, however the amounts of their transcripts were quite lower than that of Actin A3. This might be a reason why the apoptotic cell death cannot be detected in the heavy ion irradiated silkworm eggs at early development.
