The purpose of this study is to evaluate the change of diffusion -weighted imaging(DWI) of prostate cancer after HIMAC therapy. Sixteen patients with prostate cancer were examined with 1,5T MR unit before and after HIMAC therapy. Following axial and coronal T2 and axial T1-weighted images, DWI was obtained in the axial plane with a single-shot echo-planar imaging(EPI) sequence using SENSE method. ADC(apparent diffusion coefficient) map and tensor map were calculated with a computer program on numerical integration software. After HIMAC therapy, low intensity area in ADC map was reduced in 10 patients, although low intensity area in T2-weighted image was reduced in 6 patients. Adding ADC map to T2-weighted image made the recognition of change of tumor easier in 9 cases out of 16 patients. In 8 patients, tensor map after HIMAC therapy demonstrated a concentric anisotrophy of prostate more orderly than before. Contrast of T2-weighted image was better in 1.5T than 3.0T MRI unit, whereas contrast of ADC map was equal or better in 3.0T than 1.5T MR unit.
