In this study, PICO-RAD collectors were exposed to a known radon concentration in a chamber at the National Institute of Radiological Science (NIRS), and evaluated by the LSC (without the dedicated software) using an integral counting method. In addition, a conversion equation was determined between counting rate and radon concentration. We showed that radon concentration could be measured by the PICO-RAD collector using a conventional and simplified LSC instrument. It is required that the minimum detectable Rn concentration should be kept at 10% of the recommended reference level.
